  3. This package contains version 2.0.15.1
  4. (Beta 38) of the 40tude Dialog newsreader 
  5. for Windows.
  6.  
  7. To install the program simply run the
  8. file 4d2b38.exe and follow the installation
  9. instructions.
  10.  
  11. WARNING: This is beta software.  Although there 
  12.          has already been an extensive closed
  13.          alpha and beta phase, you must be 
  14.          prepared to lose all your articles, 
  15.          emails and settings due to a yet 
  16.          undiscovered bug.

  19. If you are updating from a previous version,
  20. simply close Dialog and install this version
  21. over the old version, but please backup your Dialog 
  22. directory first.

  24. When updating from version 37 or earlier there 
  25. are the following issues:
  26.  
  27.  * The address book format has changed. You might 
  28.    want to keep a backup of your existing address 
  29.    book file "addrbook.dat" in case you want to go
  30.    back to a previous version.

  32. When updating from version 36 or earlier there 
  33. are the following issues:
  34.  
  35.  * Once you updated to and started this version of
  36.    Dialog there is no way back. Some files now use
  37.    a different file extension to prevent them from
  38.    being accessed by the Windows Restore feature. 
  39.    Existing files are renamed upon first start, so 
  40.    afterwards an old version of Dialog will not be
  41.    able to access the database files correctly.

  44. When updating from version 35 or earlier there 
  45. are the following issues:
  46.  
  47.  * Once you updated to and started this version of
  48.    Dialog there is no way back. The database has a
  49.    slighly different format and all files will be
  50.    automatically converted to the new format when 
  51.    accessed for the first time. A previous version
  52.    of Dialog will no longer be able to access these
  53.    files. If you think you might want to go back to 
  54.    a previous version, please backup your complete 
  55.    Dialog directory before installing this version.

  57.  * Attachments that were automatically saved to 
  58.    disk might no longer be accessible from within
  59.    Dialog. (This only refers to files with 
  60.    non-ascii characters.)
  61.  
  62.  * You will need to recompile all your scripts.
  63.  
  64.  * There were some scripts in Wiki and in the 
  65.    groups that used "NULL" incorrectly. While 
  66.    previous versions of Dialog tolerated this, the
  67.    new version does not. The scripts will compile, 
  68.    but raise an error when executed. In the scripts 
  69.    where NULL is used, it usually needs to be replaced
  70.    with either 0 or an empty string ''. Please visit
